Shay Given has now predicted who he thinks will win between Newcastle United and Chelsea in tonight’s Carabao Cup quarter final match.
Both teams will come into the game desperate to get their hands onto some silverware and even more so now after the recent struggles they’ve been having respectively.
Shay Given was on The Monday Night Club where he claimed that Newcastle can beat Chelsea and progress through to the semi-finals of the league cup.
Given says Newcastle can win the whole thing
It’s been 68 years since Newcastle last won a domestic trophy, an FA Cup in 1955, and for a club of their size they are desperate to get their hands on a piece of silverware very soon.
The Carabao Cup would be a great place to start with the new long-term project that was put into place by the new owners, and Newcastle have a good chance having already beaten two of the top teams in the tournament.
If Newcastle do win it, certainly no one can say they’ve had an easy run in as Given rightly reminds everyone after having drawn Manchester City, Manchester United and now Chelsea.
Their poor away form is what is worrying a lot of Newcastle supporters, but what better way to ease your fans minds by winning a huge game in the capital to secure a spot in the semi final.
On the show, Given was asked if Newcastle could win: “I hope so, I’m there tomorrow night.
“The run they’ve had they beat Manchester City at home, Manchester United at Old Trafford and hopefully Newcastle will beat Chelsea tomorrow night.
“If they do win the cup, they’re going to do it the hard way with the draws they’ve had.
“But yes, they can do it and hopefully they can go all the way, it will be worth the wait.”

Chelsea want revenge after humbling defeat
Newcastle recorded a big victory in the Premier League the last time these two teams met which will given them confidence heading into tonight’s tie.
However, the Chelsea players will also be wanting revenge and to set the record straight after completing collapsing in the second half of that 4-1 defeat just a few weeks ago.
While Newcastle will now have Sven Botman and Dan Burn available for the game, Chelsea have some positive injury news themselves with Christopher Nkunku a possibility for the game.
The £52m signing is yet to feature for Chelsea but will be desperate to make his mark after impressing so heavily during his time at RB Leipzig and earning a big move to England.
