Sandro Tonali made an emotional return to the club he left just three months ago last night and the Newcastle United man got a fantastic ovation from the AC Milan supporters.
The £55million signing gave everything for Newcastle last night, up against former Chelsea man Ruben Loftus-Cheek who now sports his number eight for the Rossoneri.
Both number eights had to be substituted off on 72 minutes as they both looked completely spent. That gave the AC Milan supporters the perfect opportunity to give Sandro Tonali a perfect ovation.

The love between Milan and Tonali runs deep and definitely flows both ways as after the game Tonali spoke of the notion of possibly returning to Milan in the future.
Speaking to Mediaset (via Fabrizio Romano on X) Tonali said: “Return to AC Milan one day? I don’t know… I’d pay to know my future. Maybe yes, maybe not. Football is strange.
“I’m not closing the door to AC Milan.”
“I can’t and won’t hide my love, passion for Milan.”
Tonali will fall in love with Newcastle like he has Milan
I don’t think it would come as a shock to any Newcastle fans that Tonali wouldn’t rule out a return to AC Milan, but it was clear in his performance last night that he’s going to give his all for Newcastle while he’s here.
It’s also a safe bet that by the time he’s done at Newcastle he’ll have cemented his place in Geordie hearts as we will have in his – it’s already starting with him praising the players, staff and fans yesterday.
Milan will always be his first love, but Newcastle will get under his skin and run a close second. It always does.
