That would have been enough for most fans but he then stepped it up a level after Newcastle hero Alan Shearer commented on the post with four clapping emojis, prompting a simple, yet brilliant, response from the 23-year-old Italy international.

Quite often you don’t see much interaction on Instagram when it comes to replies to a post, maybe they’ll tap that heart button and be done with it but Tonali seems to be taking the time to respond, and he chose one appropriate word to respond to Shearer – “Legend” followed by a couple of emojis to hammer home the point.

If you want the Newcastle fans onside then showing respect to Alan Shearer is definitely a great way to go about it.

Shearer is synonymous with Newcastle and obviously, Tonali will be very aware of his history and what he means to the fans.
