Roy Keane called out Newcastle United target Kieran Tierney for his involvement in Brighton’s first goal against Arsenal yesterday.
Arsenal were demolished by Newcastle‘s next opponents, Brighton at The Emirates yesterday and Sky Sports pundit, Roy Keane was less than complimentary about Kieran Tierney when it came to Brighton’s opener.
Newcastle have been linked with a summer move for the Scottish wing-back who has found himself back in the Arsenal lineup following an injury to Oleksandr Zinchenko. Newcastle fans were hoping to get a good look at him ahead of the summer, but he’s not got off to the best of starts being part of a defence that leaked three goals to Brighton and essentially ended Arsenal’s title bid.
Roy Keane’s comments went unnoticed in the debate but he made the most sense
While a debate raged on between the Sky Sports pundits at full time, with Micah Richards stating that the goal should have been disallowed for a foul that the referee missed, Roy Keane was more interested in the lack of action by Tierney who seemingly just let the ball pass over his head. “I’d be more annoyed with Tierney for the header. It’s really poor defending,” said Keane.
Although Gary Neville and Micah Richards didn’t really acknowledge what Keane said, for me, he made the better point. The foul Richards was talking about wasn’t a foul at all, but Kieran Tierney absolutely had to do more than what he did.

It’s Monday morning and I’m writing about agreeing with Roy Keane. This week can only get better from here, surely.
Newcastle could do a lot worse than signing Kieran Tierney this summer
I’ve been hoping that Newcastle would be able to lure the £25million former Celtic man away from Arsenal as I rate him highly, aside from his poor injury record, but seeing that yesterday made me question him slightly. I know it’s just one incident in one game, but it was very, very poor.
I still think there’s an excellent player in Tierney and we could do a lot worse than signing him this summer. The ability is there, maybe he’s just a bit rusty. Eddie Howe could get more out of him I’m sure, but his injury record is a huge concern.
