Kieran Trippier has been one of Newcastle United’s best players this season, and pundit Rio Ferdinand has told the Toon defender that he is ‘technically ridiculous’.
The 32-year-old has appeared on Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, and received a lot of praise from the former Manchester United defender.
Trippier has played a key role in the season the Magpies are having. He has featured in every game, and captained Newcastle in all but one Premier League fixture so far. And at the end of this month, he looks on course to lead the team out at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final.
It is proving to be a remarkable season for Eddie Howe’s side, and the £12million right-back is a big reason why. He has been outstanding ever since he joined the club, and is now playing the best football of his career. And that is not easy given the incredible level he has played at during his time with Tottenham and Atletico.
But Trippier is now one of the main men at St James’ Park. He is part of the Premier League’s meanest defence, while he is creating chances galore in attack. He’s everything you would want in a modern day fullback, and Trippier has now received big praise from Ferdinand.

Ahead of interviewing Trippier on his official YouTube channel, Ferdinand was quick to comment on what the England international is like as a player.
“We have to give you [Trippier] your flowers when you come on man,” he said.
“Technically ridiculous. A fantasy football team manager’s dream right now!”

While Newcastle fans love Trippier for what he does in a black and white shirt, he is also popular with the neutrals.
Premier League Fantasy Football is more popular than it has ever been, and the Magpies’ number two is one of this season’s best players.
In the Premier League’s official game, Erling Haaland has won the most points this season with 171. That is no surprise given that he has already scored 25 goals. Then behind him is Tottenham’s Harry Kane with 148 points.
Then in third you’ve got Kieran Trippier, who is the player with the most points this season who isn’t a striker. He has won 143 points in fantasy football, and is currently in 69.6% of teams.
His clean sheets and assists have made him a points machine, and a player who you simply have to have in your fantasy side.
But for Toon fans and Eddie Howe, they just want Trippier to keep performing on the pitch. The only points that matter are in the Premier League, and we have got 40 of them already after 21 games.
