Report: Wilder and Dyche in the frame should Newcastle sack Bruce

Eurosport claim that Sean Dyche and Chris Wilder would both be interested in the Newcastle job should it become available.

Steve Bruce is under increasing pressure from the fan base and his St James’ Park position is pretty perilous right now.

Although there isn’t a vacancy right now, it would seem as though managers are still circling ready for the green light.

Wilder looks like a manager who will be linked with every job which comes up whilst he is a free agent.

He recently left Sheffield United after five years at the club and is unlikely to be out of work long.

The Sheffield-born incumbent led the Blades from League One to the Premier League, defying the odds to finish ninth in the division last season.

This season he departed with the club rock-bottom but his man-management skills make him an attractive proposition.

Dyche’s stock has risen considerably during his time in charge of Burnley.

Would Wilder or Dyche be good appointments?

Right now, anyone but Bruce would be the desire for most Newcastle supporters.

The team are woefully underachieving and it’s easy to see why supporters are growing tired of his style of play.

A lack of strategy or a plan b has crippled Bruce’s team and the players clearly aren’t playing for him.

Both Dyche and Wilder look like decent appointments on paper.

The duo have Premier League experience and also have found themselves in similar situations to Newcastle in their managerial careers.

Perhaps crucially though, they are both superb man-managers.

During their time in management both have proved themselves capable of squeezing every drop of talent out of their players.

Newcastle fans don’t demand a team that wins every game but they do expect work rate in abundance.

Players would run through brick walls for both Wilder and Dyche and this report could place further pressure on the club to act.
