Report: What Yasir Al-Rumayyan asked during latest Newcastle visit

Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has been on Tyneside this week and reportedly held meetings with Toon staff about the club’s future.

That is according to the Telegraph, who state that PIF chief Al-Rumayyan is delighted with Newcastle’s progress this season.

So he should be, with the Magpies set to compete in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United on Sunday. We are also in contention to qualify for next season’s Champions League, with Eddie Howe’s side fifth in the table after 23 games.

The first full season of the new ownership could not be going much better, and Al-Rumayyan has now been speaking to club staff about how things can get even better in the future.

Al-Rumayyan asks what he can do to help Newcastle progress more

The Telegraph state that the chairman has held meetings with the key decision makers at St James’ Park during his most recent visit, which also saw him witness the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Al-Rumayyan reportedly spoke to Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth, and asked what he could do to help Newcastle progress further and become a consistent force both domestically and in Europe.

The short answer is probably investment. However, that will be limited unless more lucrative sponsors arrive.

Newcastle have already got top quality people leading each department, turning the club into a well-oiled machine and a shadow of its former self.

Al-Rumayyan has helped give the club the foundations for sustained success, and the Magpies are already reaping the benefits.

However, PIF will want more. They want Newcastle to be at the top and consistently competing for silverware.

Sunday’s cup final at Wembley is going to be incredible, but the owners want it to be a regular thing, and Al-Rumayyan has spoke to Toon staff about what can be done to make it possible.

While he is not involved in the day-to-day running of the club, Al-Rumayyan is clearly invested in what is going on at Newcastle United, and wants to see PIF’s investment get better and better.

He has asked what he can do to help, and here’s hoping he delivers on the requests of Howe, Ashworth and Newcastle’s other key decision makers.
