This month is going to be pivotal to our survival prospects, which is why the new Toon owners are acting quickly to bring in the players required.
Sealing Trippier early has been a real boost. He’s an excellent player, and he should entice others to follow him to St James’ Park.
Newcastle need plenty more players before the window closes, and looming on the horizon is a crucial Premier League encounter with Watford.

Newcastle reportedly hope for one, but want two
According to The i, Newcastle’s owners want to have two more players through the door in time to face Watford next week. They reportedly want to bring in a centre-back and a striker.
However, they know it won’t be as straightforward as that given the inflated fees clubs are demanding from Newcastle.
The report adds that there is ‘hope’ that a second signing can be negotiated before we take on the Hornets.
If it’s a case of one or the other before Watford, which should be the priority – centre-back or striker?
We desperately need defensive reinforcements, but we do at least have options in that position. In contrast, our main goalscorer Callum Wilson is out injured.
Eddie Howe does have the option of playing Allan Saint-Maximin through the middle, which might be the best bet.
For the long-term, we need a centre-back, and that deal will likely be easier to do than a striker. We obviously need a forward in the coming weeks, but defence should be the priority going into our next Premier League game.
If we can start against Watford with two new defenders in Trippier and one more then fans will feel a lot more confident.
