Since becoming Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe has only lost two Premier League games at St James’ Park. They were against Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Toon boss has turned St James’ Park into a fortress once again, and it was loud and proud on Saturday afternoon as the Magpies blew away Aston Villa.
Newcastle won 4-0 to make it eight games unbeaten, and cement their place in the top four after 13 games. They are yet to lose at home, and have won their last three at SJP by a combined score of 10-1.
There is something special happening at Newcastle right now, and it is largely down to the efforts of Howe. And he took a moment to soak it all in on Saturday.
According to the Daily Mail, the 44-year-old reemerged on the touchline once the sold out St James’ Park crowd had left the ground. They report that he took a few seconds to pause and gaze around the stadium that had been rocking not long before.
That moment of reflection for Howe will have been special. While he surely believes in his talents, he must be surprised by how quickly he has turned this club around. And this is only the beginning.
The Daily Mail’s report adds that Howe would then be re-watching the entire game. Lucky bloke – I could happily watch his Newcastle team play every minute of every day.

The club feels in such safe hands with Howe. While outsiders want to focus on the money spent, the most impressive aspect of this Newcastle team is the players Howe has improved.
Miguel Almiron was considered a joke last season by Jack Grealish. Now he is one of the top scorers in the division. We’ve seen Joelinton go from striker from to midfield maestro. Joe Willock has improved, Sean Longstaff is back to his previous best, Fabian Schar is the immoveable object at the back. There’s improvement everywhere, and it’s all down to Howe.
The manager was celebrated with his own flag before the start of the game, while supporters continue to hang on his every word.
Coming out of the ground and heading home, I heard a group of young lads discussing the manager. One suggested that Howe could be on his way to becoming a Newcastle legend. His friend quickly responded, claiming that he already is.
If he carries on this form and guides Newcastle into Europe, there will be no arguments from us.
The fans are believing once again thanks to Howe, while St James’ Park is the place that everybody wants to be. Newcastle are dominant at home, and it’s Eddie Howe’s kingdom.
