According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle United’s Elliot Anderson is being monitored by Fleetwood Town and Northampton Town. Luton are also mentioned.
The Athletic reported earlier in the month that a deal with the Championship side was in place.
The Magpies are hoping that a loan move can be completed before the window closes tonight. Anderson is one of the exciting prospects in the squad’s academy, featuring in the FA Cup and for Scotland at youth level.
Issues related to COVID and injuries in the side have prevented the loan from happening sooner. A temporary move away will give him more experience and could see him make a push for more first-team involvement.
Of the clubs interested, Luton would be the ideal move
Luton are currently in the second tier and sit in 10th place. So not only would it be a loan in the Championship, but to a side that is having a strong campaign.
Should Anderson end up at Fleetwood in League One or Northampton in League Two, it would still him the experience he needs. But a Championship move would be great for the 19-year-old.
If the local lad can hit the ground running in England’s second-tier it would be very promising. A strong campaign in the Championship would see Anderson make a push for more opportunities in the future.

Another youngster in Joe White has made a loan move to Hartlepool United. The MailOnline broke the story of the youngster’s move to League Two. The club has confirmed the loan that will last until the end of the season.
The higher up the footballing ladder Anderson plays, the better. He could be a future Premier League star, and thriving in the Championship at such a young age would be incredibly encouraging.
But regardless of where he goes, it’s just essential that he gets a loan move away from St James’ Park on deadline day.
From what we’ve seen of him, he certainly has promise. Let’s hope that he takes that next step forward if it’s at Luton or elsewhere.
