Alexander Isak dazzled Newcastle United fans with his performance against Wolves on Sunday, and it sounds like he is impressing behind the scenes too.
Newcastle returned to winning ways by beating Wolves 2-1 at St James’ Park, with Isak opening the scoring for the Magpies.
It was a wonderful header from the 23-year-old, who directed Kieran Trippier’s cross goalward to give Eddie Howe’s side the lead.
He deserved the goal for a blistering first half display, as he justified Howe’s decision to start him over the out of form Callum Wilson.
Isak was electric on Sunday and gave us a new dimension in attack. He stretched the Wolves defence with his speed in behind, and he unsettled their ability to play out from the back with his clever pressing. In the words of Kieran Trippier, he was ‘unbelievable‘.
This was probably Isak’s best performance since joining the club, and it has been a long time coming after a tough start due to injury.
But Newcastle know how good he is, and have been waiting for him to take his form in training into the Premier League.

According to the Athletic, people inside the club have ‘raved’ about how well Isak has been doing in training, bemoaning the fact that he has had a couple of setbacks.
Of course, the thigh injury last year kept him out for a long time. That was a shame, as he was only just getting started on Tyneside after his £63million arrival.
Then there was the concussion in the League Cup semi final win over Southampton. That further delayed his progress in black and white.
But Isak has clearly been working hard behind the scenes and impressing the right people. It got him a start against Wolves, and he now has four Newcastle goals.
His header against Wolves was a valuable one, and there are plenty more goals to come from the super Swede. Isak is already turning heads, and the worrying thing for opponents is that he’s going to get even better. He’s only 23, and we are only scratching the surface of what he is capable of in black and white.
The more he shines in training, the more dangerous he will be in competitive action.
Isak can be the man to propel us back into Champions League contention in the remaining 14 games.
