Dan Burn told Newcastle United fans that he was going to get his suit measured ahead of the Carabao Cup final, but it appears the Magpies won’t be wearing suits at Wembley.
That is according to the Chronicle, who state that Newcastle have opted against suiting up for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Eddie Howe is looking to keep the buildup to the game as normal as possible, despite the incredible excitement of playing for a trophy at Wembley.
The manager has stated that they will do what they always do for away games, and travel down the day before the game. A lot of Toon fans will be doing the same, as they prepare to soak up the atmosphere in London ahead of Newcastle’s biggest game in years. It is our first cup final since 1999.
Traditionally, players and staff will wear a suit as they arrive for a cup final at Wembley, but Newcastle will not be doing that this weekend.

What Dan Burn had previously said about Carabao Cup final suit
Talk of suits first came about after the semi final win over Southampton.
Sean Longstaff was speaking to NUFC TV after his brace, but the interview was interrupted by the Geordie defender.
Burn did his best Paul Gascoigne impression and shouted at the camera: “Am happy, am happy, am gan to get me suit measured, come on the lads!”
In the buildup to the final, the 30-year-old has been asked if he has been to the tailors. However, he admitted before the Liverpool game on Saturday that he wasn’t sure about the club’s plan.
“The suit has not been measured, I’m not sure if we’re wearing suits to be fair,” he told NUFC TV.
Now the Chronicle report that there will in fact be no suits on Wembley Way for Newcastle United, as Howe’s side move away from tradition. But the Toon boss is right in trying to make the preparations as familiar as possible.
This is uncharted territory for most of the Newcastle squad. Not many of them have cup final experience. But that will change on Sunday, when the Magpies face Manchester United at Wembley for the 2023 League Cup.
