Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is now back in training, and could be in contention to play against Bournemouth next week.
That is according to the Northern Echo, who believe that the 32-year-old has a chance of playing in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie.
The game is set to take place 24 hours earlier than initially planned, with the fixture now scheduled for December 20th rather than December 21st.
The rearrangement potentially threatened to limit Eddie Howe’s options, especially given the World Cup involvement of some of his key players.
But every Newcastle representative has now been knocked out of the competition, and Trippier and Callum Wilson are already back training with their club.

The Northern Echo believe that they both could now be selected for the game against Bournemouth. However, do not expect to see them at St James’ Park on Saturday when the Magpies face Rayo Vallecano in a friendly.
Trippier could play against Bournemouth, but others won’t
While Trippier and Wilson are a possibility for Bournemouth, it doesn’t sound like Newcastle’s other World Cup players will be.
The Northern Echo claim that Nick Pope is not expected to feature against the Cherries. That could hand an opportunity to Loris Karius.
Our other two World Cup players are Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar. They will reportedly be back in training at the start of next week. That means that all five of the players who appeared in Qatar will be available for the Premier League’s return on Boxing Day.
But the cup clash is just important to Toon fans, who are dreaming of seeing their side win some silverware this season.
To do that, Howe’s team will need to get past Bournemouth, so expect the Toon boss to name a strong side.
Having the option of selecting Trippier will certainly be a boost, as he has been outstanding in a Newcastle shirt this season. He has barely put a foot wrong, and was described as ‘exceptional‘ by Stuart Pearce for his performance against Chelsea last month.
Trippier might not start, but he is a great option to have on the bench. He has came on in our last two Carabao Cup outings and made a difference, and Howe will be keen to lean on him again on Tuesday night.
