Newcastle United youth player Kyle Scott has turned down a move to FC Cincinnati despite impressing whilst on trial.
As reported by the Chronicle, the midfielder was offered the chance to sign a two-year contract by the MLS club, but has decided against continuing his time there.
Scott has now returned to the UK, and it is now claimed he is exploring other options after the offer ‘fell short’.
Supposedly, Scott wants to stay in Europe and would prefer to play for a top-flight club.
Newcastle actually have the option to extend his contract by another year.
As things currently stand though, he will be departing this summer for nothing. The report adds that Steve Bruce has never spoken to Scott.
Scott joined the Magpies back in 2019 after he left Chelsea.
Extend the contract and sell
Newcastle should be looking to extend Scott’s contract and then selling the player.
Scott is 23 and the fact he has been unable to break into the first-team by now suggests he isn’t quite good enough.
Newcastle should therefore be looking to turn a profit, and use the funds to put towards other transfer deals.
