Newcastle United reportedly want to land Joe Willock on loan for a second time.

According to the Sunday Mirror (print edition, 4/4, page 63), the Magpies are keen to keep a hold of the English midfielder, who has made an impression at St. James’ Park since his arrival in January.

Following a goal on his debut, after which Alan Shearer described him as ‘magnificent’, Willock has generally played quite well for the Toon.

The team have been struggling badly, but the Arsenal man has been one of the better performers in the last few weeks.

Steve Bruce apparently wants Willock on loan again for next season, but the report explains that Arsenal would want him to stay in the Premier League.

At present, Newcastle’s status as a Premier League team is under serious threat.

It is certain that any drop into the Championship will impact what the club is able to do in the transfer market this summer.

Willock has proven he’s worth another loan

Willock has not absolutely dazzled, but he has definitely brought a bit more quality to the Newcastle midfield.

Obviously things are very difficult at the moment, but he is showing that he has ability.

Another loan agreement would be ideal but, as the report states, it could well hinge on Newcastle staying in the Premier League.

The club can attempt a negotiation even if they drop, but one gets the feeling Arsenal probably wouldn’t be willing.
