Eddie Howe’s nephew Andy is reportedly set to join Newcastle United.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who state that the family member is going to be ‘appointed imminently’ into a leading recruitment position.

They state that talks are at an advanced stage after he left Bournemouth over the weekend.

Andy Howe worked with Eddie at Dean Court, where he operated as the Cherries’ head of first-team domestic scouting.

Now he’s left the South Coast side, and it looks like there’ll soon be a family gathering at Newcastle.

Who is Eddie Howe’s nephew Andy?

Andy Howe is 27-years-old, and joined Bournemouth in 2012.

In 2015, he became one of the youngest qualified coaches in Europe. At the age of just 21, he earned his UEFA B licence.

He began his time with the Cherries as a voluntary coach, but eventually made his way into the recruitment department.

Howe helped bring Aaron Ramsdale to Bournemouth back in 2017 – the man who is now Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper. He also scouted Callum Wilson for the Cherries, who is now Newcastle United’s number nine.

As well as Bournemouth, he’s also worked with Burnley and Plymouth Argyle.

Big opportunity for Andy Howe at Newcastle

While questions will be asked about Newcastle appointing the manager’s nephew, he wouldn’t be joining if he wasn’t up to the task.

This is a huge opportunity for the 27-year-old at an exciting time for the Magpies. The takeover has changed the landscape of the club completely. Howe has a chance to help lay the foundations for an exciting future.

Hopefully he isn’t the only arrival a Newcastle this week, though. With the transfer window set to shut in seven days, the Magpies need to act fast and get in the players required to achieve Premier League survival.

Otherwise we’ll be playing in the second tier, and Andy Howe will once again be looking for Championship standard talent.
