According to the Daily Mail, there is already some frustration at Newcastle among members of the consortium.
Amanda Staveley, Jamie Reuben and PIF completed a deal to buy Newcastle almost two weeks ago, but are yet to make any major changes at the club.
The takeover came out of nowhere, leading to a frantic period as the new owners look to get their ducks in a row.
One change that needs to be made is the manager. It was a change that was needed during Mike Ashley’s ownership.
Steve Bruce was expected to be relieved of his duties last week. However, the 60-year-old actually remained in charge for the Tottenham game.
While he got to reach the milestone of 1000 games in management, fans got one more reminder of how poor he’s doing at St James’ Park.
The Magpies fell apart like they’ve done so many times before under Bruce, with members of the media far and wide willing to point the finger at anyone but the manager.
The truth of the matter is that he needs to go. His presence is having a hugely negative impact on the team. According to the Daily Mail, multiple players want the new owners to make a change before Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace.
Steve Bruce situation reportedly causing frustration for the Newcastle consortium
The Daily Mail state that there is some frustration among members of the consortium due to the situation surrounding Bruce.
Some reportedly wanted him to go last week, and are frustrated that he was kept on amid the lack of a replacement.
It was a decision that irked some fans. However, there was an appreciation that it made sense amid the rapid nature of this takeover. On top of that, the owners at least communicated with the fans on the Bruce matter – albeit on Friday just before he was about to face the media.
But Bruce’s presence certainly had a negative effect on Sunday. His unfit team were unable to match the crowd’s energy after about 10 minutes.
A decision needs to be made about Bruce before the trip to Selhurst Park. If not, it could be another defeat for the Magpies, leaving us in the relegation zone for yet another week.
Change needs to come. It needs to happen fast. Some of the consortium may be frustrated, but that’s exactly how fans have felt for the majority of Bruce’s tenure.
