Newcastle United are already planning to hand Eddie Howe a new contract.

The Daily Mail have reported that the Toon owners will open talks with Howe this summer, following a sensational start to life at St James’ Park.

He arrived in November to replace Steve Bruce following a lengthy search for a new manager.

Almost three weeks after Bruce was relieved of his duties, Howe was confirmed as the new Newcastle United head coach. He signed a two-and-a-half year deal, which is due to expire in 2024.

That means we’ve only got two more years of the Howe revolution, which is why Amanda Staveley and co are keen to hand him a renewal.

Eddie Howe absolutely deserves new Newcastle contract

The Daily Mail’s report states that the owners are delighted with Howe, who’s built up a good relationship with Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

They add that his family are set to move to Newcastle in the coming months, which will further enhance his desire to lead the Magpies. Howe recently spoke about how difficult it has been to be away from his wife and kids.

It’s all going right for Howe at St James’ Park. He entered a club on the brink that needed rescuing, and he’s done that and more.

The Magpies were in the relegation zone at the start of the year, but they could end the season in the top half. Howe has orchestrated a sensational 2022 that has seen Newcastle lose five times in the Premier League. And four of those results came against the top four.

Howe has raised standards at the club, and gotten so much more out of the likes of Joelinton and Emil Krafth. The former is Newcastle’s Player of the Year while the latter has excelled in Kieran Trippier’s absence. Fabian Schar and Jonjo Shelvey look revitalised under the manager, while elder statesmen like Matt Ritchie continue to be influential off the pitch.

Everyone is pulling in the same direction, which is down to the environment produced by Howe.

The fans absolutely adore him, and most will want to see him remain at St James’ Park for a long time. Newcastle are on a journey, and Howe is the man to lead it.

PIF and co will likely spend a decent amount in the transfer market this summer, but their most important deal could be tying Howe down to a long-term deal.
