According to a report in TeamTalk, Newcastle United are amongst the teams interested in signing Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

The Finland international has been linked with a move to Tyneside a number of times in the past, and it seems as though United are still keen to bring him in to St James’ Park.

Newcastle already have an abundance of midfield options with the likes of Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Jeff Hendrick and the Longstaff brothers battling it out for a spot in Steve Bruce’s side.

Bringing Kamara in would certainly be something of a gamble, as he’s only ever played in league football the SPFL, and it’s fair to say that signings from Scotland haven’t always fared too well.

However, for every Gary Hooper you get a Virgil van Dijk, and it seems as though Kamara could be one of the better imports from Scotland if he signs for Steve Bruce’s side.

Kamara certainly has the quality to compete at the top level, after all, he’s been an ever-present in Rangers’ Europa League campaign this season and the Glasgow outfit have been nothing short of excellent in Europe, going unbeaten in five games to secure qualification into the knockout stages.

Unfortunately for the Magpies, they’re not the only side in for Kamara, with Everton, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace amongst the Premier League clubs showing an interest in him.

There’s also interest from abroad with Portuguese giants Benfica who would represent a very interesting destination for the Finnish international.
