Newcastle United are reportedly preparing a major bid that would break their transfer record for Moussa Diaby per 90min.com. He’s been on the Magpies radar this summer and it appears they could be one step closer to signing him.
The Bayern Leverkusen Sporting director has admitted the club may need to sell the winger. It’s been reported the Toon were confident in signing the Frenchman. Now they could be one step closer to making it a reality.
Recent reports coming from Germany have stated that Leverkusen have set Moussa Diaby’s price at £51 million. Eddie Howe is looking to bolster Newcastle’s attacking options this summer. It would definitely be a dream signing for the Magpies.
Newcastle have been linked with Diaby for weeks now, and it seems that they are finally set to make their move – after talks have been ongoing in the background for some time.
Diaby signing for Newcastle would be their second statement signing of the summer
Thus far the Toon have signed Matt Targett, following his successful loan, Nick Pope and Sven Botman. Of the three arrivals, Botman has been the statement signing. He’s been compared to Virgil Van Dijk and at only 22-years-old, that has some fans very excited.
But if Newcastle successfully bid for Diaby, that would another big statement made. The winger is one of the most exciting talents in the Bundesliga. Furthermore he’s a French international, so he would boost Newcastle’s attacking options.
Moussa Diaby’s price may be high, but he’s shown immense talent. Additonally, the wideman can only get better, like Botman, he’s only 22-years-old!
Also, there’s no doubt that the Frenchman is an improvement on what Eddie Howe already has. Allan Saint-Maximin is Newcastle’s star man out wide, but they’re lacking in other consistent wingers.
Whilst Ryan Fraser has looked a lot better since Howe’s arrival, he is prone to injury. Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy have had their moments, but Diaby is significantly better than all of them.
It’s already been an exciting summer on Tyneside and it could get even better! One statement signing is great, but adding a second would make it an exceptional summer for Newcastle.
