According to reports in France, Newcastle have had a bid rejected for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara.
That’s according to L’Equipe (via David Crossan), who state that the Magpies offered £12million for the 21-year-old.
However, they add that Marseille would rather sell to La Liga side Sevilla.
Kamara is out of contract next summer, meaning the time is now for Marseille to sell. However, it appears they want more than £12million.
Despite just being 21, Kamara already has a lot of first-team experience, spending the past three years in the Marseille first-team.

Newcastle seem willing to make midfield investment with Boubacar Kamara bid rejected
This comes in the same week that Newcastle have reportedly agreed a fee in excess of £20million for Joe Willock.
The midfielder would be the Magpies’ first signing of a frustrating summer. Willock’s return is essential, but the recruitments must not stop there.
Newcastle have been linked with various other centre-midfielders, with an eye towards a more defensive-minded option. That’s exactly what Kamara is.

A permanent move for the Frenchman would represent a good piece of business. It would also possibly take our spending near the £40million mark once a deal for Willock is completed.
Alternatively, we could sign someone on loan. But then we’re back at square one next summer.
With Kamara’s contract ending in 2022, Marseille need to move him on now or risk losing him for nothing. Therefore, the Magpies must persevere and make an improved offer.
