According to Newcastle World, Eddie Howe is being considered as a replacement for Steve Bruce.

The Saudi-backed takeover is set to be announced, which should lead to Bruce losing his job as Newcastle manager.

The 60-year-old was appointed in the summer of 2019, replacing Rafa Benitez after his contract expired.

Bruce has had a tough tenure at St James’ Park, but has often been lucky to hold on to his job.

However, it looks like a change of ownership will lead to a change of manager.

According to Newcastle World, the new owners are set to relieve Bruce of his duties. But who will replace him in the dugout?

Could Eddie Howe replace Bruce at Newcastle?

Newcastle World state that the consortium are considering Eddie Howe as a Bruce replacement.

The 43-year-old has been out of work since 2020 after he resigned from his post at Bournemouth following relegation.

Howe was set to become Celtic manager this summer, but that deal collapsed.

Now the young coach could get the chance to manage one of the richest clubs in the world.

He’s been linked with the Magpies before, with the Sun claiming at the start of the year that Mike Ashley could turn to Howe if he sacked Bruce. Of course, that didn’t happen.

Howe would be an interesting appointment for Newcastle. He wouldn’t be a blockbuster arrival like Antonio Conte, who former striker Michael Chopra thinks should get the job.

But Howe did a brilliant job at Bournemouth, taking them all the way to the Premier League – all the while playing entertaining football.

His stock has dropped in recent years, but a move to the new Newcastle could allow him to rebuild his reputation.

He’s a young manager with a clear philosophy on how to play football. But is he the right man to lead this exciting new era for the Magpies?
