As reported by The Chronicle, Florent Indalecio thinks he smashed his recent trial with Newcastle, while the player’s friend and ex-teammate Alexis Wenzel believes the Magpies will offer him a one-year contract.
Wenzel told The Chronicle: ‘It went well. He was calling me every couple of days. He was saying he gave 200% so he’s got no regrets. He thinks he smashed it actually.
‘He’s confident, he told me now my agent is going to see how it goes. That’s why he wants to take his time, he received some other offers in the UK. I feel they’re going to give him a one-year contract.’
It is interesting to hear that Indalecio feels confident about his audition for the Magpies. However, his fate will be up to Steve Bruce and other staff members.
The Frenchman definitely looked to have caught the eye during his trial. Allan Saint-Maximin filmed his fellow countryman scoring a fantastic bicycle kick, which the trialist uploaded to his Instagram account.
Similarly to the deal which saw Rodrigo Vilca arrive at St James’ Park, there is little risk in bringing Indalecio in from the cold and seeing what he can do on a short-term contract.
It would be an inspirational story if that happens. The former AS Saint-Etienne prospect was working on a construction site in Australia earlier this year, so what a journey he’ll have been on if we offer him a contract.
By the sounds of it, he gave his all in the trial and has been left satisfied with his efforts, which bodes well for his chances of earning a deal on Tyneside.
