Report explains why Jack Colback wasn't in the Newcastle United team photo

Newcastle United have released their official team photo for this season, but there are a couple of players missing.

While Henri Saivet is there, Jack Colback and Jamie Sterry are nowhere to been. The trio weren’t included in Steve Bruce’s Premier League squad and were unable to secure moves away from St James’ Park.

That means they are going to be without senior football until January, instead having to settle for just training with the Newcastle first-team.

Saivet didn’t get a chance to prove himself in pre-season but is still there in the team photo, top left next to Joelinton.

But why isn’t Colback there? Well according to the Chronicle, he simply did not want to be involved in the picture. There is no mention of why Sterry wasn’t involved.

What on earth is going on with Colback? He doesn’t want to leave and play football, but also doesn’t want to be pictured with the team he’s training with every day.

A lot of people thought he’d get a chance under Bruce, having featured a lot at the start of pre-season. However, he wasn’t named in the squad and didn’t get a move to the Championship either.

The midfielder had become a bit of a hero at Nottingham Forest, but a change in management there saw them go in a different direction.

He could’ve done what Rolando Aarons did and went down to League One, but he wasn’t prepared to drop down two divisions. He didn’t want to go abroad either.

Colback is in the final year of his contract and will likely never play for Newcastle United again.
