According to Sky Sports, former Newcastle United loanee Danny Rose is set to leave Watford in January. Rose joined The Hornets last summer on a two-year deal after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
In January 2020, Rose joined Newcastle on loan until the end of the season. The former England international was brought in to replace the injured Jetro Willems. The Dutchman sustained an injury against Chelsea, putting an end to his loan spell on Tyneside.
While the former Frankfurt left-back really impressed and became a fan favourite, the same can’t be said for Rose. He wasn’t a total disaster by any means, but didn’t take the world by storm either. Safe to say it was overall a pretty mediocre stint for the once highly thought of full-back.

Fitness the main obstacle in the way of Rose reviving his career
Watford boss Claudio Ranieri spoke earlier in the season on Rose as he called him to refind the top form he had at Spurs. The Italian boss stated that he felt the Englishmen had the ability but needed to improve his fitness. He claimed it had improved, but he needed to do more to get back to top fitness.
However, Rose’s short time at Watford has not panned out the way he hoped. So far he has made nine appearances for The Hornets and has struggled to perform.
In his last appearance for the club, he picked up a booking which was his fifth of the season, resulting in a one-match suspension. The yellow card came against Manchester City where they lost 3-1 on December 4th. Since then Rose has not been put back into the side.
With Watford putting him up for sale and stating he won’t play for them, that is likely his last appearance.

Watford intend on spending, they will need Rose to part so a sqaud space can open up
Only a few days into the window and the Hornets have already signed Hassane Kamara from Nice. The Ivorian is described as a left-sided defender, so it looks like he’ll be Rose’s replacement.
Additionally, Congolese midfielder Edo Kayembe is reportedly close to joining from K.A.S Eupen. The same applies to Besiktas’ Domagoj Vida and Samir from Udinese.
Not only will it free up squad places, but Rose parting ways will take a player off the wage books. If Watford are to bring in new players, having fewer people to pay will certainly help.

The last couple of years or so have been tough for Danny Rose. His loan spell at Newcastle was a forgettable one and his move to Watford has gone even worse.
With a move seemingly on the cards, it will be interesting to see where the former Magpies loanee ends up. Rose will be hoping the next move will be the right one to get his career back on track.
