Report: Eddie Howe has left some of his Newcastle signings in shock this season

Eddie Howe reportedly shocked some of Newcastle United’s newer signings when discussing the club’s history.

That is according to i News, who state that some of the new recruits on Tyneside were left ‘in shock’ when they were told that the Magpies had not won a trophy since 1969, with no domestic honours since 1955.

The lack of silverware on Tyneside is something that Howe is hoping to change, and his side are in an excellent position to make history this season.

Newcastle are in the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup, and face Leicester City tonight for a place in the final four.

Howe is expected to put out his strongest team, with new recruits such as Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman set to start.

The signings that have been made are a big reason why Newcastle are doing so well and suddenly have a chance of winning the League Cup. That is Howe’s ambition, as he looks to etch his name into the Toon history books.

If they do that then they are into the semi finals, and will be just two games away from a first proper appearance at the new Wembley.
