Dylan Stephenson’s current Newcastle United contract expires at the end of the season.
The youngster is having a sensational campaign with the club’s youth side, and will be hoping to extend his stay with the Magpies.
And according to the Chronicle, that is likely to happen. They report that Stephenson is likely to be offered a new deal on the advice of Steve Harper.
Tying Stephenson down to a new deal is a no brainer. He signed his first professional contract with Newcastle last summer, and he’s been deadly in front of goal ever since.
The 18-year-old has scored 10 goals in 13 Premier League 2 appearances for the Magpies’ Under-23 side this season. He even netted a brace in Monday’s Tyne-Wear derby win over rivals Sunderland.
On top of that, he scored one goal in the EFL Cup against League Two outfit Mansfield Town.

Newcastle currently have Paul Dummett and Sean Longstaff representing the academy in the first-team, while Mark Gillespie also started his career with the young Magpies.
Stephenson will be hoping to follow in their footsteps. But when will he get his chance?
It seems as though a loan move will be on the agenda, but potentially not until next season. The Chronicle state that Newcastle may resist EFL interest in January.
The next few steps of Stephenson’s career will be vital for his development. He needs a new contract first, then a loan move to the right club. Join the wrong club, and it could be catastrophic.
But Newcastle have high hopes for Stephenson, and rightly so. Eddie Howe has already given him a chance to train with the first-team.
