Sean Longstaff will get a new deal at Newcastle, sending a clear ‘not for sale’ message to Manchester United.
The Daily Star claims the rising star will stay at St James’ Park, regardless of Rafa Benitez’s position.
The Magpies believe Longstaff is the future nucleus of the team, and his new deal will reflect that.
Despite signing his current contract just six months ago, Newcastle feel a new deal will fend off any interest from Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continued to push for a £25 million deal for Longstaff, but is likely to be left disappointed.
Newcastle maintain he is staying, no matter what fee is offered.
The player is unlikely to push for a move, with him breaking through at his boyhood team. The hope is that he will emulate legend Alan Shearer, by staying at the club for his peak years.

Newcastle need to aim higher in future years
It is up to Newcastle to prove to youngsters like Longstaff that they can fulfil their ambitions on Tyneside. To do that, they need to invest in the squad, and avoid yearly battles against relegation.
It is, of course, one of the obstacles to overcome in the talks between the club and Benitez. The Spaniard will stay if he can convince Mike Ashley that a transfer overhaul is needed.

Unless the club move forward, further approaches will come for their top stars in the future. And players from outside the North East may not have the same sense of loyalty as those born in sight of the Tyne Bridge.
The warning signs are there for Ashley. It is time for him to heed them.
