Newcastle United are claimed to be looking at Borussia Dortmund’s interim manager Edin Terzic.
According to German publication Bild, the Magpies are expressing an interest in the 38-year-old, who has been in charge of Dortmund since December following the sacking of Lucien Favre.
Terzic has done a great job of getting Dortmund back on track.
He has managed to get them back up to third in the Bundesliga table, and also delivered the DfB-Pokal trophy last week.
It’s believed many of Dortmund’s players have been reinvigorated by Terzic’s methods.
Youngster Jude Bellingham recently said of him (via Archie Rhind-Tutt): “From day one, he let me know he was going to help me develop any way I could. He’s looked after me and he’s helped me develop by sitting down with me, watching games back. I feel like a better player with him to be honest.”
Apparently he has already turned down the Eintracht Frankfurt job.
Terzic is certainly carving out a good reputation at the moment, and supposedly speaks fluent English.
Marco Rose has already been confirmed as Dortmund’s new head coach for 2021/22, so Terzic’s future is currently up in the air somewhat.
Interstingly, he previously had a stint with West Ham United, where he was an assistant coach.
Surely just noise
With Steve Bruce reiterating his commitment to his contract, a change of manager for Newcastle this summer is just not likely.
Mike Ashley has stood by him during extreme lows and the owner isn’t going to axe him when he’s ultimately achieved what was asked of him – as much as many Toon fans still want Bruce gone.
Crystal Palace are also said to be in the mix for Terzic, and with Roy Hodgson leaving, Selhurst Park is probably a much more likely bet if he is to come to England this summer.
