Bruno Guimaraes made his World Cup debut on Monday, and the Newcastle midfielder is now set to be rewarded with a start.
Brazil’s 1-0 win over Switzerland confirmed their place in the next round, meaning they can afford to take their foot off the gas on Friday against Cameroon.
It was a resilient performance from Tite’s side, and it included a cameo from Bruno, who was not happy about the quality of the pitch. He came off the bench to replace Fred, and proved exactly why he should have started in the first place.
The 25-year-old played brilliantly on his first ever appearance at a major tournament, and certainly boosted his case to be named in Brazil’s starting XI.
And it sounds like he will be in their next game.

Bruno Guimaraes to start for Brazil on Friday
Brazil play their final group game on Friday night, entertaining Cameroon who need a win to qualify for the next round.
The pressure is off the Selecao, meaning Tite is set to make multiple changes.
According to Globo, Brazil will completely change their lineup, making 11 changes to the side that beat Switzerland.
They believe that Man City’s Ederson will play in goal, with a back four in front of him consisting of Dani Alves, Eder Militao, Gleison Bremer and Alex Telles.
It’s the midfield that Newcastle fans are interested in, and Globo believe that Bruno is going to start alongside Liverpool ace Fabinho.
Rounding out the lineup, Brazil’s four attackers will reportedly be Antony, Rodrygo, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.
Considering they will apparently make 11 changes, that is still a very impressive team. It is a chance for those players to show they should feature in the rest of the tournament, and Bruno has the strongest case alongside Rodrygo.
That duo changed the game on Monday night, and will believe they should start in Brazil’s remaining World Cup games.
Now it looks like Bruno will get his chance, and it will be great for Newcastle fans to see the midfielder in action.
