Alexander Isak is finally back in full training for Newcastle United, and is reportedly looking better than ever.

That is according to the Telegraph, who report that the 23-year-old is now training with the first-team once again after being out for months with a thigh injury.

Isak arrived in the summer for £63million from Real Sociedad, becoming the club’s new record signing. There was huge excitement when he arrived, but his start on Tyneside has been massively hindered by fitness.

He has made just three appearances for his new club, scoring twice.

However, Newcastle have thrived in his absence, and are currently third in the Premier League. Our bid to qualify for Europe will be strengthened by Isak’s return, and we could potentially see him in action as early as Saturday.

Alexander Isak is back in training and could play vs Sheffield Wednesday

The Telegraph state that Eddie Howe is now contemplating putting Isak straight back into the matchday squad on Saturday.

Tonight’s game against Arsenal comes too soon for Isak, but we could potentially see him in action in the FA Cup at the weekend. Newcastle take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

It would be brilliant to see him return in the cup, even if it is just as a substitute. He will be keen to make up for lost time, having endured a tough start to his Toon career.

In fact, the Telegraph state that sources have told them that Isak is looking better in training now than he did when he first arrived. The report adds that there is a fear that he was injured when he joined in August.

Regardless, the most important thing is that Isak is fit now and ready to really show Toon fans what he is all about. We saw a glimpse of it on his debut, where he scored a wonderful goal against Liverpool.

Isak’s return gives Howe even more options in attack. He will soon have the unenviable task of working out how to get him and Callum Wilson in the same side. The pair are yet to play together this season, having both suffered with injuries at alternate times.

But now Newcastle’s record signing is back, and we will hopefully see why he cost so much money in the near future – possibly as soon as Saturday in the FA Cup.
