Newcastle United battled their way to a second win in three games on Saturday.
While it wasn’t at all convincing, the important thing is that Newcastle emerged from their Premier League clash with Fulham with all three points.
Indeed, Eddie Howe had to hold harsh words with his players following a dreadful start at Craven Cottage but, even despite a new injury to Joe Willock and a goal being ruled out by VAR, they found a way.
It was a crucial victory in different ways.
Not only was it a rare clean sheet for a team struggling to defend these days but it means Newcastle are now just a point behind West Ham in seventh while also boasting a game in hand.
Crucial to the win, as ever, was Bruno Guimaraes.
The Brazilian, who has been strongly tipped to leave this summer, stepped up to score the winning goal on what was his 100th appearance for Newcastle.
Having also avoided a yellow card too, it means the threat of a two-game ban for receiving ten of those will be lifted should he avoid going in the book against Tottenham next weekend.
It was another fantastic performance from £40m star Guimaraes, who has been a constant in this team during an otherwise frustratingly inconsistent campaign.

It’s fair to say Gary Lineker was impressed.
Gary Lineker wowed by Bruno Guimaraes for Newcastle vs Fulham
The BBC Match of the Day pundit was full of praise for the 26-year-old.
Speaking of the midfielder on the Match of the Day, Lineker said: “He’s a really top player, he’s been a great signing for them.”
How well did Bruno Guimaraes play for Newcastle vs Fulham?
It wasn’t only his goal that stood out.
According to WhoScored data, Guimaraes played a team-high total of four key passes while also ranking second to Anthony Gordon for dribbles (2).
Having also registered a tackle and two clearances, it’s clear it was an all-action display.
