Some Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been raving about the partnership between Callum Wilson and Joelinton after the game against Crystal Palace on Friday evening.

It’s fair to say that the pair were excellent against Palace, linking up for two goals late on to secure all three points for the Magpies.

The pair have played together before, but very rarely in a 4-4-2, and it seems as though some Newcastle supporters liked what they saw when the pair linked up as a traditional strike partnership.

Earlier this week we stated that Bruce needs to find the Cisse to Callum Wilson’s Demba Ba, and one fan actually compared the two to the early 2010s duo.

While that may be a little pre-emptive, Joelinton and Wilson’s link-up did remind us of some of Newcastle’s great strike partnerships.

Of course, whether or not this continues is another thing entirely.

Steve Bruce has changed his team’s formation endlessly this season, and while fans think that the tinkering should stop for now, it remains to be seen whether or not he listens to their pleas.

Either way, supporters were happy to see that Bruce decided to play the two strikers up-front together, and it quite clearly worked as their two goals earnt United a vital win.
