Sandro Tonali is now officially a Newcastle United player and as the club celebrated its new arrival, the Italy midfielder posted an emotional farewell to AC Milan on Instagram.

It was always going to be a hard time for Sandro Tonali to leave AC Milan, the club and fans love him and he loves them in return, which is why it makes sense that he would leave such a lengthy message on social media to thank Milan ahead of his new adventure with Newcastle.

On his Instagram, Tonali said “I understand that this goodbye can cause mixed emotions and it’s normal that there are some when you leave a big piece of your heart, but it’s important to remember that in football, as well as in life, changes sometimes cause growth for everyone.” He then signed off with: “A warm hug, hoping that this is not a goodbye but a see you later. Go Milan. Sandro.”

Rafael Leao certainly isn’t happy to see Tonali leave for Newcastle

Fans new and old flooded the replies with goodbyes and good lucks, but one response that stood out was that of his Milan teammate, Rafael Leao who simply posted a series of emojis showing his upset that his friend is leaving.

Meanwhile in England fans are still somewhat stunned that Newcastle managed to pull this one off.

Tonali is an experienced footballer despite his young age, but I expect it may take him a while to settle in England, especially looking at how much he’s going to miss Milan.

The Toon Army will make him forget about Milan for a while

Moving to an entirely different country to play in a league that is a total change of pace from the one you’re used to, and crucially, coming to a club that has no Italian players for him to latch on to are all things that could mean it may take a while before we see him at his best.

Thankfully, Newcastle acted quickly and got Tonali in before the players returned for pre-season so he will have the maximum amount of time to adapt before the Premier League kicks off again next month.

As for him settling in, once he hears the Toon Army roaring his name I’m sure that will help him massively.
