Fabian Schar couldn’t hide his disappointment with Newcastle United for one aspect of their otherwise great performance against Liverpool.
In what is becoming a growing trend, Newcastle United again put in a brilliant performance against a top team on Wednesday after previously struggling against sides they should be beating.
Eddie Howe’s side caught Liverpool cold as they burst out of the traps and went ahead through Alexander Isak’s thunderous strike.
Liverpool gathered their composure at half-time and levelled shortly afterwards through Curtis Jones but an undeterred Newcastle hit back when Anthony Gordon went through and found the bottom corner.
Mohamed Salah then struck twice in quick succession to put Liverpool ahead but, just when it appeared Newcastle’s efforts were in vain, there was one more twist in the tale.
When Caoimhin Kelleher completely missed an incoming cross, the ball fell for a sliding Fabian Schar to find the back of the net.
It was the least Newcastle deserved after a fantastic performance but Schar has revealed he was not best pleased with the goals his side conceded.

Fabian Schar unhappy with how Newcastle conceded vs Liverpool
It appeared as though defensive mistakes were going to prove costly for Newcastle and undo all their good work.
Though there were joyous scenes at the end of the match, Schar made sure to point out that the manner in which his side conceded was ‘disappointing’.
He told Amazon Prime when asked if Newcastle deserved a point: “Minimum I thought. We’ve been excellent over the whole game I’d say. Created so many chances.
“Conceded actually poor goals which is quite disappointing. I think we were the better team so at least we got a late equaliser.
“But when you see the whole game, I think we wanted and deserved more.
“The way we play, we always believe. We created so many chances in the whole 90 minues.
“Obviously the game was a bit crazy. But we stick together and believe to the end and least we’re not on the losing side.”
Lewis Hall had a poor game, should he be dropped?
Though it was Joelinton who gave the ball away for the second goal, Lewis Hall was culpable for the other two.
The left-back gifted the ball to Salah and then lost him as the Egyptian went on to set up Liverpool’s first. He was then dragged in-field and gave Salah the space of the flank for his second strike.
Not only that, Hall nearly allowed Salah to set up another goal when he foolishly let the ball bounce in the box, which Liverpool’s main man latched onto. Darwin Nunez was an inch away from poking in the resulting cross.
Any defender in the world would struggle against Salah in the sort of form he was in in the second 45 and Hall did at least get forward well at points, but it was another shaky display for the full-back.
He hasn’t been at his best recently and perhaps a stint out of the team would do him good.
