Tuesday night is going to be a big one.

Newcastle United enter the Champions League fray for the first time in over twenty years and are given quite the first assignment.

Indeed, a trip to San Siro to take on AC Milan awaits, the kind of nights the club could only have dreamed about for so long.

It is a stunning game to be a part of, particularly for a certain Sandro Tonali.

A Milan fan and a player who departed the Serie A giants just a few months ago, it seems the midfielder may be involved.

Eddie Howe says Sandro Tonali is available for Milan game

In a big boost for Newcastle, Tonali could be fit for the trip to his former club.

The midfielder did not play during the win over Brentford after picking up a slight injury while away on international duty with Italy, though Eddie Howe provided a positive update on Saturday night.

As relayed by the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, the Newcastle head coach shared that Tonali, who was on the bench on Saturday, would have been used only in an “emergency”, suggesting some level of fitness.

Still, Howe is confident the 23-year-old will be available to feature in at least some capacity on Tuesday.

A big boost for Newcastle – on and off the pitch

With Joelinton missing, it’s a big boost for Newcastle.

Though the midfield has not been at its best this season, having Bruno Guimaraes and the “quality” Tonali available is clearly better than being without the Italian too.

One of the few players in Howe’s squad with Champions League experience, that kind of top-level nous could be crucial.

A player well versed in all things Milan and used to playing on the big stage inside one of football’s most iconic stadiums, it’ll be fascinating to see how he lines up against his old side.
