It’s been a tough stint thus far for Jeff Hendrick at Queens Park Rangers. He joined from Newcastle United on deadline day with a little help from Les Ferdinand.
When the deal was completed, some fans saw it as the right move for the Irishman. He was nowhere near breaking into the Magpies’ starting XI after Eddie Howe’s arrival.
A loan to the Championship looked set to give him more game time and it’s a league he’s succeeded in before. However, his temporary move to West London hasn’t worked out as he’d hoped so far. He’s struggled to impact their midfield.

Hendrick being brought in might have disrupted the flow of QPR’s midfield
QPR’s results have been disappointing since the end of January. They’ve only won once since, with a 2-1 win against Blackpool. They even suffered an upset to Peterborough in the FA Cup, losing 2-0.
Since his arrival, the Newcastle loanee has played seven times for the Hoops and he is yet to contribute a goal or an assist. The likes of Andre Dozzell and Luke Amos have seen their minutes reduced since the midfielder signed.

Dozzell was starting to really come on for QPR. Some fans will have been disappointed he’s missing out on time to develop his game.
Considering that he’s yet to have an impact and their form has dipped, Hendrick may have somewhat rocked the boat. Now it’s definitely not entirely all his fault, but bringing him in may have hindered QPR’s creativity in midfield .
They also signed Dion Sanderson from Wolves on loan. He along with the other Hoops signings haven’t made much of a statement in West London.

QPR are still in the play-off places but, with other teams in the Championship on the way up, they’ll need to turn it around.
Perhaps shaking things up in midfield would bring about a revival of their form. Unfortunately, this might mean the Toon loanee gets dropped.
Hopefully Hendrick can turn it around. He is likely to be heading for the exit door this summer and a successful loan spell could get him a decent permanent move away.
