Newcastle United legend Malcolm ‘Supermac’ Macdonald has been very impressed with new signing Tino Livramento following his first start for the club in midweek.

Many thought Newcastle were taking a big risk paying £32million for Tino Livramento after the 20-year-old missed almost all of last season through an ACL injury.

ACL injuries have been known to end careers, so when a player does come back from one it’s always a worry they won’t be the same as before, but Tino Livramento put all those fears to bed with one excellent performance on Wednesday.

Livramento kept Jack Grealish very quiet on Wednesday

Livramento was tasked with shutting down Manchester City‘s superstar, Jack Grealish. It was a task that young Tino made look relatively easy.

In his column for The Chronicle, Macdonald has gushed over Livramento calling him a “Rolls Royce player” and backing him to be a star for a long time.

“Livramento is a Rolls Royce of a player,” wrote Macdonald. “So full of confidence and smooth ability. [Kieran] Trippier knows he has a challenger for his crown. This lad can be a United regular for the next 10 years.”

Newcastle have Trippier’s replacement already lined up in Livramento

It is said to be Eddie Howe‘s plan to have Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall as the club’s go-to full backs for years to come, and it already looks like Livramento is well on his way to making that a reality.

Kieran Trippier is a huge part of this Newcastle side and it looked like he was going to be impossible to replace.

While his influence on the team will be difficult to follow, it definitely looks like Newcastle have someone who can take over the mantle in a footballing sense at least.
