Newcastle United could indirectly benefit this weekend from some injury news, Jack Grealish reportedly looking good to return for Aston Villa after the international break.
Dean Smith’s side are in action against Newcastle’s big relegation rivals Fulham this weekend, with the Magpies taking on Tottenham Hotspur.
There is potential for Newcastle to put the pressure on the Cottagers, as the game against Spurs is on Sunday at 2.05pm, while Villa and Fulham kick-off at 4.30pm.
In an ideal world, Newcastle would not need to be looking too much into the activities at other clubs.
But form is just so poor and it’s likely Steve Bruce will take anything to boost the confidence on his players.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Villa skipper Grealish is set to return to action this weekend having missed the last six weeks through injury.
He’s back in first-team training, which surely puts him firmly in contention to play.
Top performer Grealish can help Newcastle
At this point, anything that will boost Newcastle’s chances of survival is worth clinging to.

Grealish returning against Fulham would make their job of picking up much more difficult than if he wasn’t available.
He’s been one of the Premier League’s best players this season and is incredibly creative.
With Newcastle in action first on Sunday though, it’s obviously vital to try and get the three points to put the pressure on, and then hope Grealish inspires Villa to victory hours later.
