Arnautovic saga must force Newcastle to move quickly for reported target Defrel

According to reports on Friday, Newcastle are interested in Gregoire Defrel.

The French forward is currently on loan at Sampdoria, but Corriere Dello Sport claim that the Magpies have offered £13million to parent club Roma.

He may no longer be needed at Sampdoria, with the club re-signing Manolo Gabbiadini earlier in the window.

Roma are looking to move the 27-year-old on and Newcastle need attacking reinforcements, so a deal makes sense. However, Newcastle aren’t the only teams keen.

Defrel wanted by West Ham too

Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this week that West Ham, Fulham and Watford are interested in Defrel.

West Ham’s interest is the most interesting, as they also need attacking reinforcements like us. Well, they will need them if Marko Arnautovic leaves the club.

The Hammers talisman is the subject of interest from China, and Arnautovic wants to go. However, West Ham won’t let him leave until they sign a replacement.

Could Defrel be that replacement? Considering the names West Ham have been linked with, Defrel is one of the least inspiring. But while he won’t excite West Ham fans, he would certainly bring some joy to the Toon Army.

With the way this transfer window has gone, literally anyone will do. Hopefully the rumours about Defrel are true and we can nab him before West Ham get the chance.
