The Premier League fixtures were announced on Thursday, with Newcastle already knowing that their opening game of the season, at home to Arsenal, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Sunday August 11 at 2.00pm.

But it is likely to be a while before we find out which other fixtures have been selected, but as usual, you can assume that we will feature on a number of occasions.

Last season the television games were announced in the first week of July, so this year is likely to be similar. In the first batch of announcements, we’ll likely get Sky and BT’s televised games for August and September.

Of course, apart from the opening weekend, we also know that Amazon Prime will be showing two rounds of games, and they are the midweek games in the first week of December, and the traditional Boxing Day programme.

For Newcastle, that’s away at Sheffield United and Manchester United.

Between August and December, there are a few other games that look attractive to Sky and BT, and we have picked out a few that may be under threat.

A few games look likely to be moved around for live television

Newly promoted Norwich City’s first home game of the season is against Newcastle, and despite them taking part in the season curtain raiser at Liverpool, it will not be a huge surprise if our game at Carrow Road is moved.

Spurs away in the third round of games is another candidate, but after last season’s torrid lunchtime game, in freezing temperatures at Wembley, they may steer clear of it this time around.

Our trip to Anfield on September 14 has a good chance of being shown, as they have been on television virtually every season since the two 4-3 games – last season’s Boxing Day game being an exception.

It is all subject to conjecture, right now, but whichever games are picked, you can guarantee they will be plentiful, and – as ever – the fans’ travel arrangements and distances will not be given the slightest consideration.
