Port Vale fans have been showing their appreciation for Newcastle United youngster Lewis Cass.
The 21-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with the League Two outfit.
This is the next step for him, after he helped Hartlepool United achieve promotion back to the Football League last season.
He was a regular at Victoria Park, and he is already seeing plenty of minutes at Port Vale.
So far, Cass has made seven appearances for the club, with five coming in the league.
Cass has started and played 90 minutes in each of Port Vale’s last two league games now, operating on the right of a back three.
Port Vale won both of those games, and it seems this newfound position could really suit Cass.
It is certainly good for him to be comfortable playing as part of a back three, as this is obviously the system the Newcastle first-team is currently using.
Even if Steve Bruce loses his job at Newcastle – as unlikely as that currently feels – it is generally good for young players to get experience playing in a back/three-five these days.
On social media, Port Vale put out a post asking for people to describe Cass based on how he’s played so far.
That prompted a number of people to lavish praise on the youngster, who has clearly made a great early impression:
