St James’ Park is a fortress once again.
Newcastle United have been largely unbeatable during the Eddie Howe era at St James’ Park, with their stunning home form providing the base from which the club have leapt into the Champions League.
As Paris Saint-Germain found out on Wednesday night, the white-hot atmosphere within its walls can play a huge part for the club.

The cathedral on the hill is a happy place once again, driving Howe’s team to new heights.
Soon perhaps, even more fans could be able to experience it.
Newcastle United considering stadium expansion
According to the Daily Telegraph, a stadium expansion is being considered behind the scenes.
They suggest all options remain on the table including the building of another tier on the East Stand, as well as exploring if the Gallowgate End can be brought up to the same size as the Leazes End.
Still, a new fan park will be going in around the Gallowgate End, meaning work is unlikely in the short-term.

Good news for Newcastle fans
St James’ Park is a unique ground. Right in the middle of a football mad city, it is the heartbeat of Newcastle.
So then, the idea of expanding the size of that stadium rather than moving to a new ground to accommodate extra supporters has to be seen as a good thing.
More seats mean more revenue, after all.
To be able to do that all while staying at one of the most iconic grounds in European football is surely getting the best of both worlds.
Newcastle cannot lose their character. While PIF’s millions obviously help, having such a fervent home support in a unique stadium is what separates the club from the rest.
This is an important step in the club’s history. Keeping that connection to its roots while improving things.
