Reports linking us with a move for Uruguay midfielder Nahitan Nandez are certainly exciting.
According to Calciomercato, we are interested in the Boca Juniors man, who could cost £18million. The report also states that Leeds, Roma and Cagliari are interested.
But what kind of player are we targeting?
Well from pictures, it looks like Nandez is a very combative midfielder, not afraid of putting tackles in and getting in the faces of the opposition. And it looks like he’s been getting in the face of a former Newcastle captain.
Nandez clashes with Coloccini
Earlier this month, Boca Juniors took on San Lorenzo, where former Magpies skipper Fabricio Coloccini now resides.
Boca won the game 3-0, with Nandez getting a goal. But the man we’re reportedly tracking was also involved in a bit of a scuffle with Coloccini.
The former Newcastle player always had a bit of an edge, and it’s good to see that a midfielder we’re reportedly targeting has the same fire.
However, hopefully we never see Nandez choking someone if he joins Newcastle, like Coloccini once did in a pre-season game…
The 23-year-old looks like a battler in the heart of midfield, which would make him a brilliant summer signing.
