Emil Krafth hasn’t been seen since Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup win over Tranmere back in August due to injury, but the defender has now been pictured on the eve of the next round.
The Magpies face Crystal Palace in the third round at St James’ Park on Wednesday night. In preparation for the game, the club have released official training photos of the players being put through their paces.
And while Krafth isn’t out on the grass and taking part in full training, he has at least been spotted back with his teammates.
As part of the photos, there is one of the right-back being hard at work in the gym. The club posted this photo on their official Twitter account, alongside the message: “Working hard on his recovery.”
It’s great to see Krafth back in the gym, and hopefully it means he isn’t too far away from being back in full training.
Horror injury ruining Emil Krafth’s sensational 2022
The Swede has only started one game for Newcastle this season, and it ended in disaster. He was stretchered off in the League Cup win at Tranmere, suffering a serious injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.
Following the injury, Krafth confirmed that he would be out for several months. It has only been two full months since then, but hopefully we see him back in action early in 2023.
Krafth had been a revelation for Newcastle in 2022. He stepped up in a big way last season, performing incredibly well after Kieran Trippier picked up an injury.

The 28-year-old was a revelation at right-back, and possibly secured his Newcastle future with those performances. He would be Trippier’s number one deputy right now had it not been for his ACL injury.
Instead, Javi Manquillo is the Magpies’ second choice on the right of defence. He has only made one appearance this season, coming off the bench in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Southampton.
The Spaniard will hope to feature in Wednesday night’s League Cup game against Crystal Palace, and has been pictured in training.
