Ever since Newcastle’s win over Tottenham last weekend, there’s been a lot of talk about injuries. Steve Bruce’s side seem to be the walking wounded, and the League Cup clash with Leicester wasn’t kind either.

Matt Ritchie picked up an injury and will be out for two months, while Emil Krafth and Jetro Willems also had to limp off. There are also doubts over Miguel Almiron and Joelinton, although surely both of them will start against Watford.

Friday saw a selection of training photos released by the club, and a familiar face is back in the fold. Yes, DeAndre Yedlin seems to be back after his injury layoff.

The American missed all of pre-season after groin surgery at the end of last season. And as he closed in on a return in early August, he suffered another setback.

However, photos show the defender is back in training and hopefully set to return.

Krafth has started the last three games as right wing-back, a position that previously belonged Yedlin when Rafa Benitez was boss.

We haven’t seen enough from the Swede to truly know how good he is, but over the past three years we’ve learnt what Yedlin is good at…and what he’s not.

He’s got pace to burn and is a great outlet as wing-back, but can sometimes be suspect defensively. Will he be able to force his way back into the starting XI ahead of Krafth? That’s up to Bruce.
