Bruno Guimaraes has the potential to be a star at Newcastle United.
The midfielder joined the Magpies in January; the most expensive recruit in a month that saw Newcastle’s new owners splash the cash.
Guimaraes could end up costing £42million from Lyon, and it’ll be money well spent if he lives up to the hype at St James’ Park.
The 24-year-old has made two appearances in black and white so far, but is yet to start for the club. Both of his appearances came late in the day as a substitute in the wins over Everton and Aston Villa.
He gave a brief glimpse of his talents against Everton, snapping into tackles and moving the ball nicely during his six minute cameo. He even had time for a nifty little back heel.
Against Aston Villa, he was less involved. Newcastle were digging in defensively to hold on to a 1-0 lead, and Guimaraes’ big moment came when he won a late free kick at a vital time to relieve the pressure.
His minutes will soon increase, as the chants of ‘Bruno, Bruno, Bruno’ get louder and louder. In the meantime, it looks like the Brazil international is working hard off the pitch to settle in at his new club as quickly as possible.

Guimaraes is very active on social media, and gave a glimpse of the work he’s doing away from the training ground.
The Magpies’ number 39 posted a picture on his Instagram story of him learning the English language.
The language barrier is one that Guimaraes appears to be working hard to overcome. He does know some English – he briefly spoke to the club’s official website in the language after his arrival. He also spoke to Eddie Howe in English when he entered the Toon dressing room to meet his teammates.
Howe appears to be taking his time with Bruno. He’s so far resisted the temptation to thrust him into the starting XI.
The more he trains with the team, the more he’ll adapt to his new surroundings. And the more he works on the English language off the pitch, the better he’ll be able to understand what the manager wants from him.
Fans already love Bruno, and they’ll love him even more once he starts to truly shine in the Premier League.
