Miguel Almiron probably can’t believe what’s happened.

When he left Newcastle this summer to go represent Paraguay at the Copa America, everything was looking rosy. He was working under Rafa Benitez, and had great chemistry with teammates Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez.

But now the manager has gone, took Rondon with him, and Perez has joined Leicester. So you could excuse Almiron if he was a bit deflated.

The speedster was given extended leave after his international exploits, but he has now been pictured back in training.

The club’s official Instagram account released a series of pictures of new signing Joelinton taking in his first training session as a Newcastle United player. And in the first image, he is pictured alongside the returning Almiron.

While seeing Joelinton integrate with his new teammates is great, seeing Almiron return is even better.

The 25-year-old should be the focal point of this Newcastle team with his speed and creativity. He changed the way we played last season, and hopefully he can have an even bigger impact this time out.

Our next game is against Preston on Saturday afternoon, and fingers crossed we get the chance to see Almiron and Joelinton link up and kick off what could be a beautiful partnership.

Almiron makes the players around him better. If he can get the best out of Joelinton, he will be adored even more on Tyneside.
