Young Bristol City star, Alex Scott is coveted by several clubs, including Newcastle United and the ‘Guerney Grealish’ caught the eye of Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola at Ashton Gate last night.

Pep apologised for beating Bristol City before praising Alex Scott
Manchester City ran out 3-0 winners against the Robins in the FA Cup on Tuesday night, ending their 12-game unbeaten run. While he apologised for halting their run, Guardiola was keen to praise the Bristol City performance and name-checked Newcastle target, Alex Scott.
Speaking to the media, via BristolWorld, Pep said: “They’re a solid team and they are so aggressive. They win their duels. [Matty] James is a really good player, the young Alex Scott is apparently a young talented player as well.”
Newcastle are one of several suitors for Scott’s signature with The Sun reporting he will set the club back £25m after Bristol City slapped that price tag on him in January when Wolves came knocking.
It is fitting that Guardiola would single out Scott for praise given his nickname of ‘Guernsey Grealish‘. Scott did eventually come face-to-face with the real deal when Jack Grealish was brought off the bench, chipping in with an assist.

A change of pace from Ashworth and Howe
Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe are focused on bringing in and nurturing young talent in order to give the club a strong future. Since Howe took the reigns, Newcastle have signed a wealth of young talent including Charlie McArthur, Alex Murphy, Garang Kuol and most recently, Harrison Ashby.
All of those players were picked up relatively cheaply, so it’s a big change of pace for Newcastle to potentially fork out over £25m for a player who may not be first-team ready right away. I’m not saying that it’s a bad decision, it clearly shows that we are investing in the future of the club.
