Newcastle United have been told their signing of Martin Dubravka was ‘inspirational’.
That is the view of former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
The Slovakia international first arrived at St. James’ Park in January 2018 on loan from Sparta Prague.

The star was an instant hit with Toon fans, and the club wasted no time turning his move permanent that summer.
Since then, Dubravka has been solid for Newcastle.
He didn’t play too much in 2020/21 due to injury, and then the fine form of Karl Darlow.
But he eventually reclaimed his starting berth.
Robinson was on punditry duty for BeIN Sports for Poland vs Slovakia yesterday when he praised the 32-year-old.

He said (quoted by the Chronicle): “Dubravka has been an inspirational signing for Newcastle.
“It was a problem area for them and he came in initially on loan, did really well, and they signed him at the first opportunity they had.
“He dominates his box which I like. He is a big, tall goalkeeper and he is not afraid to come for crosses.
“He is a very, very good goalkeeper and at 32 he still has a lot of time left.”
Dubravka one of the best recent Toon signings
It’s good to see Dubravka coming in for high praise from a respected Premier League goalkeeper of yesteryear such as Robinson.

The star really has proven to be great business by the club.
He seems to be one of those players that breathes confidence into others, which in itself is totally invaluable.
